Opening for the Season Saturday May 18, “Armed Forces Day” – 1812 Marine Guard Memorial Grove living history camp, 10am – 4pm
Wednesdays May 1 through May 22 – 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Humanities NY – Reading and Discussion: “Serving” – Four free evening discussions at Hay Memorial Library, facilitators Josh Canale and John Deans
Mon. May 27 – Memorial Day Ceremony at Centennial Monument, 8:30am by American Legion Post 1757 members
Sat. June 1 – National Trails Day “Story Walk” follows the Site’s nationally designated History Trail, featuring the picture book Miss Rumphius. Event partner Hay Memorial Library, 10am to 1pm
Sat. June 15 – NYS Path Through History Day, 1812 Marine Guard Memorial Grove living history camp, 10am – 4pm
Sundays June 30 – Sept. 1 – Site of Sackets Harbor Historical Society’s Concerts on the Waterfront, 3-5pm
June 15 till Aug. 17 – War of 1812 Living History Camp – Thurs. – Sats. – site staff in Memorial Grove, weather permitting
Thurs. July 4th – Site of Village’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks, 9:30pm
Sat. July 6 – “Slavery, Freemen, the War of 1812, and A House Divided” Starting at 1pm, a free mini-drama on NYS slavery and talk on the military role of African-American men during the War of 1812. Tour the Navy Yard Commandant’s House, featuring the story of Commandant Tattnall, a Southern-born naval officer.
Sat., July 13 – 1812 Marine Guard Memorial Grove living history camp, cannon firing
Sat. July 20 – Annual Kite Fest; free kites while they last, 1pm barn lawn
Sat. July 27 – “Civil War Saturday:” Demonstrations by living-history soldiers and sailors, 10am-3pm; and “Ride Along With History:” Woman on A Wheel:” Presentation on women’s early fashions for bicycling, plus a guided bike tour of the historic site, 10am to 12noon.
Sat. Aug. 3 – 15th Annual War of 1812 Living History Day – Living history demonstrations by local 1812 re-enactors, 10am to 4pm
Sat., Aug. 10 – “Lighting the Way: Candles and Candle-Making,” 10am to 4pm
Sat. and Sun. Aug. 24 and 25 – Association of the United States Army (AUSA) sponsored “The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall”
Sat. Aug. 31 – 1812 Marine Guard Memorial Grove living history camp and cannon firing, 10am-4pm
Sun. Sept. 1 – Site of 8th annual “18.12 Challenge and ½ Marathon”
Open Saturdays after Labor Day through Oct. 12th Columbus Day Weekend
