Plein Air Art Festival

Head outside and witness the creation of art right before your eyes at the annual Plein Air Art Festival in Sackets Harbor on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 24, 25, and 26.

One of the longest continuing plein air art events in New York State, this event begins in and around the Village of Sackets Harbor and the Town of Hounsfield on Thursday and Friday, with local artists creating their work “en plein air,” a French phrase that means “in the open air.” Artists will have “vending stations” of their artwork setup where they’re drawing, sketching, and painting at a variety of locations within the village and town.

The event continues with a Meet the Artists reception on Friday, from 4 to 6 pm, at the Sackets Harbor Arts Center, located at 119 West Main Street. Stop by and chat with the artists about the pieces they’ve been creating and get a preview of what will be on display and for sale the following day. The event concludes with the newly-created pieces on display on Saturday, from 10 am to 7 pm, and on sale through a silent auction that same day, from 2 to 3 pm.
