August Featured Artist at the Arts Center

The Arts Association of Northern New York (AANNY) has chosen Kelly Colton as its August featured artist at the Sackets Harbor Arts Center at 119 West Main Street.

A native of Watertown, Colton now splits her time between the North Country and Florida. Although she sketched as a child, Colton didn’t devote herself to art until later in life, when she began painting portraits of family members. She works primarily in acrylic, but she utilizes mixed media and pastels in some of her pieces as well.

Colton joined the art community in 2022 at Zephyrhills Art Club, in Florida, where she’s now the acting president, and at AANNY in Sackets Harbor. She entered her first show in the summer of 2022 at the Jefferson County Fair, and she won Best of Show and first place in the Acrylics category. She’s won numerous prizes through juried art shows in Florida and had her first stand-alone exhibition in 2023.

As the August Featured Artist, visitors at the Arts Center can see Kelly Colton’s work on display throughout the month, during the Arts Center’s regular hours:

• Sunday through Wednesday, from 10 am to 4 pm
• Thursday through Saturday, from 10 am to 7 pm
