The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site will present a discussion on democracy, called “The Unfinished Revolution: Living Up to the Promise of Democracy, Part 2,” on Wednesday, Sept 17, at 6:30 pm, at the former Union Hotel building, at the corner of West Main and Ray Streets in Sackets Harbor.

Presented by Ray Peterson, a retired instructor from Jefferson Community College (JCC), this discussion will continue one that began earlier this year, considering the democratic ideals and goals that were never fully realized but are still being sought today. While democratic systems have made significant progress, they are constantly evolving and facing challenges to ensure fairness, equality, and representation for all citizens.

Peterson’s presentations on democracy, the US Constitution, and political science themes reflect the depth of knowledge he gained from his more than 40 years as a professor at JCC. His programs at the Historic Site in the spring and fall each year draw audiences of life-long learners.

Organized by the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, the presentation is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
