Eclipse Workshop for Children

Hay Memorial Library will host an Eclipse Workshop for Children on Saturday, March 23, at 11 am, at its location at 105 South Broad Street, in Sackets Harbor.

Staff from the Sci-Tech Center of Northern New York will present this hands-on workshop that’s designed for children, ages 8 to 12. Kids will learn the astronomical science behind an eclipse, how to protect their eyes during an eclipse, and how to view the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse safely. They’ll also make their own safe-viewing eclipse projection boxes and solar clocks to take home.

In addition to the activities planned during the event, the Sci-Tech Center will also provide each child with four pairs of eclipse glasses to share with their family and friends, so they’re ready for the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8.

The Eclipse Workshop is free, and the public is welcome to attend by registering with the library. The event is made possible through a grant to the Sci-Tech Center from the Simons Foundation.
