Annual First Day Hike in Sackets

Start the New Year off right in Sackets Harbor at the NYS Parks annual First Day Hike on Sunday, Jan 1, from 1 to 3 pm, beginning at the Union Hotel building, at 401 West Main Street.

Sign-in for the hike and register for your chance to win a free Empire Pass at the magnificent Union Hotel building in Sackets Harbor, where you’ll also receive a free hike souvenir and a map of the Village trails. Then you’ll be ready to experience Sackets Harbor’s scenic landscape and discover our history.

The suggested 2-mile course traverses flat surfaces and offers sweeping vistas of Black River Bay, wide open space farm fields, sheltered woods, and village streets.

For a shorter hike, a free activity sheet leads hikers on part of the Battlefield Historic Site’s History Trail loop, using interpretive panels to test participants’ observation skills.
