As part of its HalloweenVille celebration, the Sackets Harbor Chamber of Commerce is hosting Sticks and Bones, a scarecrow and skeleton making contest in downtown Sackets Harbor. Visitors can view the entries along West Main Street during HalloweenVille on Saturday, Oct 28 and for the 10 days following the event.
Brainstorm your best scarecrow and skeleton ideas, and then build your own for display on West Main Street during the Halloween season! The Chamber is inviting all residents, organizations, and businesses in Sackets Harbor to create a moveable scarecrow or skeleton for the contest. Only one entry per household, organization, or business will be accepted, and all entrants must register by Saturday, Oct 21, at 4 pm. (Download your entry form here.)
Ideally, entries will be whimsical, humorous, mischievous, and/or loveable. As HalloweenVille is a family-friendly event, entries deemed to gruesome, bloody, or scary will be disqualified and removed from display. (Please download the Chamber’s full contest rules here.)
All entries will be installed in designated spots along West Main Street on Wednesday, Oct 25, and they’ll remain on display until Tuesday, Nov 7. Visitors and local attendees of HalloweenVille will be invited to vote on their favorite scarecrows and skeletons, and the awards will be announced on Wednesday, Nov 1.
