The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site will host a Revolutionary War Blacksmith for a two-day living history experience on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, from 10 am to 4:30 pm, at the site’s Memorial Grove.

Traveling Blacksmith Jymm, who specializes in 18th century blacksmithing, attracted crowds for his blacksmithing presentation at last year’s North American War of 1812 Grand Tactical. Back by popular demand this year, Jymm will return to Sackets Harbor for two full days of living history demonstrations entitled “A Revolutionary War Blacksmith: Keeping the Military Prepared.”

Jymm will bring his traveling forge housed on a limber, a type of carriage which traditionally supported a cannon in the 1800s. He’s fashioned this as blacksmiths of the Revolutionary War-era did to create a “blacksmith shop on wheels,” carrying essential blacksmith equipment and farriers to both shoe horses and repair wagons and artillery equipment.

The two days of demonstrations are all free, and the public is invited to attend.
