Spies and Intrigue Talk at the Union Hotel
The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site will present a talk on “Revolutionary War Spies and Intrigue” on Wednesday, Sept 24, at 6:30 pm, at the former Union Hotel building, at the corner of West Main and Ray Streets in Sackets Harbor.
The Revolutionary War saw extensive use of spies and intricate networks of intelligence gathering by both the Americans and the British. The intelligence centered on troop movements, fortifications, and plans, and both sides operated, and benefited from, well-developed espionage networks.
Dr. Josh Canale, a member of the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Alliance board, wrote his doctorate dissertation on the American Revolution, and he will lead this talk. Now an instructor at Jefferson Community College (JCC), Dr. Canale also facilitates the Battlefield’s biannual Reading and Discussion Series.
Organized by the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, the presentation is free, and the public is welcome to attend.
