Story Walk on National Trails Day

The Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site and the Hay Memorial Library will hold a Story Walk in honor of National Trails Day on Saturday, June 3, from 10 am to 1 pm, at the Battlefield.

Celebrate National Trails Day with a Story Walk along Sackets Harbor’s nationally-recognized historic trail, while reading a special storybook’s pages posted along the way. This year’s selection is Turtle’s Race with Beaver, a charming fable of brains versus brawn by Joseph Bruchac. This story links the region’s Haudenosaunee heritage to today’s visitors at the Battlefield.

The event is free, and the public is welcome to attend. The starting point is the Sackets Harbor Battlefield, located at 504 West Main Street. Parking is available near the entrance and in a nearby lot off Hill Street. The Library will also have Take & Make Crafts available for participants at the end of the walk (while supplies last).

The event is sponsored by Hay Memorial Library, the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, the Fort Drum Library, and the Adirondack Mountain Club.
