The sprawling Robert G. Wehle State Park is one of the newest in the New York State Parks system, and it’s just a 20-minute drive from Sackets Harbor.
The park boasts 1,100 acres of land and over 17,000 feet of spectacular Lake Ontario shoreline, and the former owner’s residential compound — including the main house, guest cottage, and artist studio with recreation room — can be rented during the spring, summer, and fall.
Visitors can also access the more than 10 miles of nature trails for hiking and mountain biking during the spring, summer, and fall; and those same trails can be used for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. In addition, Robert G. Wehle State Park offers a tennis court, pickleball court, picnic areas, grills, and hunting in designated areas during hunting season.
