Just 15 miles from Sackets Harbor, Southwick Beach State Park is the perfect, family-friendly location for a day of swimming, fishing, and hiking or a camping trip.

Southwick Beach has a storied history as a beach and dance hall in the 1920s, and later as a seaside resort and amusement park in the 1930s, before falling on hard times during The Great Depression. The beach reopened in the 1960s, and it’s been a New York State Park since 1966.

Visitors today can enjoy its outstanding sunning, swimming, and fishing areas, with 3,500 feet of lakefront, as well as its playground, concessions, BBQ grills, tent and RV sites, and nature trails. In addition, those same nature trails for hiking can also be used in the off-season for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
