The Village of Sackets Harbor recognized Lieutenant Colonel Daniel P. Brady, the outgoing commander of the 41st Engineer Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division, with a resolution of appreciation for his service to the community at a 41st Engineer Battalion Change of Command Ceremony in June 2026.
Village Historian Constance Barone and Village Heritage Area Director David Altieri attended the ceremony and presented LTC Brady with the signed resolution. The full text of the resolution is as follows:
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel P. Brady, Commander of the 41st Engineer Battalion of the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, has faithfully served both his nation and the surrounding North Country communities with distinction, professionalism, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure, Lieutenant Colonel Brady fostered a strong and meaningful partnership between the soldiers of the 41st Engineer Battalion and the Village of Sackets Harbor; and
WHEREAS, under his leadership, soldiers from the 41st Engineer Battalion generously volunteered their time and efforts to support numerous community events and initiatives, including HalloweenVille, Veterans Day observances, and annual Wreath Laying Ceremonies; and
WHEREAS, the Battalion also provided invaluable community service through projects including seasonal clean-up and maintenance of the Sackets Harbor Military Cemetery, educational activities and assistance for local students at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield State Historic Site, and many other acts of service that strengthened the bond between Fort Drum and our community; and
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Brady’s leadership, commitment to community partnership, and encouragement of volunteerism have left a lasting and positive impact upon the residents of Sackets Harbor; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board of Trustees wishes to formally recognize and express its sincere gratitude for his service, friendship, and contributions to our community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Sackets Harbor hereby extends its deepest appreciation and thanks to Lieutenant Colonel Daniel P. Brady for his outstanding service and dedication to the Village of Sackets Harbor and its residents; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Trustees wishes Lieutenant Colonel Brady continued success, health, and happiness in his future assignments and endeavors, with gratitude for the enduring legacy of service and partnership he leaves behind in Sackets Harbor.
