Concerts on the Waterfront: Syracuse University Brass Ensemble
The Sackets Harbor Historical Society will continue its 2026 Concerts on the Waterfront series with the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble, performing on Sunday, July 5, from 3 to 5 pm, at the Sackets Harbor Battlefield, located at 504 West Main Street.
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble (SUBE) is a group of 35 professional-level brass and percussion musicians. Members include faculty, staff, and students from Syracuse University; faculty and staff at SUNY Upstate Medical University; and accomplished musicians from Upstate New York communities. The ensemble is co-directed by James T. Spencer and Craig Elwood.
The SUBE repertoire includes music from all major musical periods, ranging from classical to contemporary works. The ensemble frequently commissions new compositions from nationally recognized composers.
The Historical Society’s Concerts on the Waterfront series run on Sunday afternoons, from June 28 through Sept 6, 2026. Like all those in the series, this concert is free and open to the public. It’s held outdoors at the Battlefield, so remember to pack your picnic blanket or lawn chairs.
In case of bad weather, the concerts will be moved to the Parish Center at St. Andrew’s Church, which is located at the corner of East Main and Woolsey Streets. The Historical Society will announce if a concert’s being moved on its Facebook page on the afternoon of the concert.
This concert is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the St. Lawrence County Arts Council.
