Create your own beach-inspired wind chimes in this class at the Sackets Harbor Arts Center, on Sunday, Aug 13, from 10 am to 12:30 pm. The class begins with an optional beach walk near Navy Point, at 10 am, and then continues at the Arts Center, in the AANNY building, at 119 West Main Street.
Instructor Olivia Farrar will guide participants in making their very own lovely and melodic wind chimes. In the first hour of the class, Farrar will lead participants on a journey along the beach near Navy Point and the Sackets Harbor Battlefield to find shells, beach glass, beautiful stones, and all types of driftwood. At the same time, she’ll share a guided history of the Battlefield, telling stories of the region’s rich history and cultural heritage.
During the rest of the class, students will combine their found objects into wind chimes at the Arts Center with Farrar’s expertise and guidance.
The Wind Chime Class is open to anyone aged 10 or older, and the fee for the class is $30 for Arts Association of Northern New York (AANNY) members and $35 for non-members. Please note, if participants do not wish to take part in the walking component of the course, the instructor will provide additional materials to be used for wind chime making.
